chocolate pencils! write secret memos to lick off!

My cousin Will sent me a link to these cool chocolate pencils. Aren't they neat??? I wish I could chew through one right now. rarwrararwar. haha.

Images: Nendo

This is part of the description that's on the nendo website describing these yummy pencils. It made me laugh. hahaha.

"Pencil filings are usually the unwanted remains of sharpening a pencil, but in this case, they're the star!"

They're so enthusiastic about these chocolate pencils! And I am, too! haha. If you go to their concept page this is what they have to say about their work... (I love the "!", it's better than "???" or "?!?" haha)

"Giving people a small " ! " moment. There are so many small " ! " moments hidden in our everyday.

But we don’t recognize them.and even when we do recognize them,we tend to unconsciously reset ourminds and forget what we’ve seen.

But we believe these small " ! " moments are what make our days so interesting, so rich.

That’s why we want to reconstitute the everyday by collecting and reshaping them into something that’s easy to understand.

We’d like the people who’ve encountered nendo’s designs to feel these small " ! " moments intuitively.

That’s nendo’s job.

Meet Will

This is Will (my cuz) doing his male model pose with his gf.
Images: Kiana

This is Will strolling around in a scooter at Wal-Mart. Apparently he's handicapped because only handicapped people use those scooters. Doesn't he look like a robot in this picture? Look how stiff he is. hahah. It makes me happy. haha. I think he's also wearing his sunglasses inside. Only rappers do that, Will! We're such a goofy clan.

Cuteness!

Images: A Rabbit in the Hat

How cute are these??? They're birthday hats made out of vintage materials and they're reuseable. I would probably just put mine on display or wear them everyday and proclaim it JUDY DAY!!!! Yaye!!! haha. I spotted these on daily candy. They're made by A Rabbit in the Hat and you can get them at etsy. I'll have to come up with my own version to go with cupcakes =) The seller also has a blog if you're into vintage items of all sorts.

Joeysha

I-zone polaroid
Bet you didn't know that my sister was half black at one point in her life! It only lasted a week. The braids were too heavy and her head hurt. What a wuss. haha. She looks like 1/2 of Milli Vanilli. You can call her Joeysha.

This pic is from 8 years ago.

Oh, Polaroid...

Take a picture, trick!!!!
Chris, a fellow lover of instant fun
Yes, that's me in the picture, taking a picture. haha. Jeremy is holding the polaroid. No shaking necessary.

I'm sure some of you have heard that Polaroid will no longer produce the polaroid film that they were widely known for. Even freaking Perez Hilton blogged about it. No more instant fun! BOOOOOOOOOOoo. It seriously felt like someone punched the air out of my lungs. Slowly, everything film related is being phased out. I LOVE FILM!!! DO YOU HEAR ME??? I LOVE FILM!!! More so than digital. I know I sound crazy, but I have 5 different types of polaroid cameras, not counting my toy cameras and my other 35mm cameras. I'm going to turn into the cat lady, but with cameras instead of cats. I hate cats by the way. haha. Shmanyways, in order to keep the legacy of polaroid alive, I will post pics of my favorite polaroids every now and then. I better start taking more pictures with my film cameras before they become dinosaurs.

More monkey cakes!

I made this cake for Jonah's 1st birthday a week ago. And no, I didn't make those cute monkey cupcakes. haha. They're SUPER CUTE, aren't they?? Jackie, Jonah's aunty made them. Those monkeys were actually on the invitation. The theme was monkeys and the party looked amazing. Too bad the cake looks dwarfed in the picture. It seemed so big in real life and it was super heavy! Wasn't it, Lillian? Definitely weighed 3 times more than the baby. haha. The flavors were red velvet on the first layer and vanilla cake with strawberry preserves and white chocolate buttercream on the second layer. Lillian, thanks so much for your help!

I've been doing a lot of monkey cakes lately. Here's another one:
This was for John's bday.

What the F!

Imagine the horror and pain I went through when I found this note tucked into my windshield wiper. At first I panicked scanning for the dent. I didn't know whether I should have been pissed or feel guilty for being mad because of the "God bless". I mean, how can you get mad at someone who says God bless??? hahah. LUCKILY it was a joke, but a very mean one. Who does that??? My co-workers from last year pulled this prank on me and I give them mad props. They scared the F out of me. hahah.

O I N K !

On Friday night I finally got to eat at Honey Pig (or in korean, Ggool deh ji) in ktown. For all you pacific northwesterners, you know who you are (danster, smileface, etc), this is another good reason to come back to California. Next time you're on an eating frenzy, stop by Honey Pig! If you like Shikdorak or korean barbeque in general, it's a cool place to go to. It's duk bo sam style. I don't want to hype it up too much b/c someone overhyped it for me and I thought the place was OK.

So this is how it works...you sit at a table with a slightly domed grill and the waiters put bean sprouts (kong na mul) and kim chee on the bottom part of the grill and then they put the meat on top. The juices of the meat drop down onto the sprouts and kim chi giving them extra flavor!!!! If you like pork, pork+ kim chee = happiness. I think some of you just vomitted in your mouths haha, but this is how kim chee chi gae is usually made! =)

After all the meat is cooked you can ask for rice and they put a rice mixture on top of the grill and let it cook. You can mix the rice, the kim chee, the meat and the sprouts all together for a complete party in your mouth! YUM! haha. I would go back to this place just to see the collection of pigs. I think it's growing. I want to stick my head in the collection behind the window. I think I would fit in perfectly. haha.

Oh l'amour...

Do you hear Erasure? I do. haha.

Hey Cupcake, Happy Valentine's Day!

Minis! bitesize pieces of LOVE. hahha.
Who said that hearts had to be red?

Wanna hear something cool? O-K! My cupcakes are in las vegas (right now) at the PROJECT tradeshow!!! This show is for the creme de la creme. A new high end jean company, Laguna Beach Jean Company, bought almost 400 cupcakes to give away at their booth. Free booze and cupcakes, everybody! And it's open bar. They're also going to have some reality tv stars present to model the jeans. Check-check-check it out! I haven't been to vegas in AGES and now my cupcakes are there. WHAT THE HECK??!!!? hahhaa.

So I got this random message on myspace the other day. The message said, "You don't look 28". At first I was like, Awesome! this person thinks I look young, sweet! Then I stopped myself and thought wait a minute...this person didn't say that I looked young, just not 28. It could've totally gone the other way. hahha. Oh well! It still made my day. haha.

Ok, I'm exhausted. The holidays are so rough...

Fafi, I love you!

Now we can all have a piece of Fafi once her line for M.A.C. hits the stands sometime next week. Oooh, la la! CAN'T WAIT! Time to hit that wallet. haha.

For those of you who aren't familiar with Fafi, she's a parisian graffiti artist. She's pretty much famous. So if you don't know, now you know.

J'adore!!!

Egg Pants

My cousin Kevin is so sweet.

Before Christmas he told me that he got me egg pants. I honestly thought it was a fashion item/trend that hadn't reached the west coast. I thought maybe I'm just not hip with it, but when he gave me the egg pants, I felt like an idiot. They're literally pants for eggs. haha. I thought they were the cutest things on earth! He got them at the moma in NY. Thanks Kevin! You are now my #1 cousin!

Maybe I should smuggle some eggs from LA based artist Jeana Sohn and fashion them in my egg pants. haha.

So if any of you need to let your eggs reach room temperature when baking, get some egg pants or you won't be looking very cool in the kitchen.

Dead Sexy

image: la garconne
Come to mama! haha. I think i like these more than the Matilde boots. Everyone, meet the Penelope boot by Loeffler Randall!

Before Sprinkles, there was Joan's on Third...

This is where the hipsters, the celebrities and the wanna-be celebrities go. Ok, normal people too, like me. haha. The cast of The Hills noshes here, Jake Gyllenhall has taken his mother here and just last Friday, ms. iella saw TomKat with their kids in tow. I guess I would describe Joan's as being a mini dean & deluca but much cuter and cozier. You definitely have to go there! The food looks delicious and you can dine outside on the sidewalk, people watch and then go shopping.

So when I was in LA to see the Murakami exhibit at the MOCA I stopped by Joan's to sample some cupcakes. I thought about trying the vanilla and chocolate cupcakes, but then there she was, staring right at me...a SNICKERS cupcake. I have to admit I was a little turned off at first, but I LOVE snickers! It's one of my favorite candy bars. It actually ended up being pretty good. AS IF I needed to add more junk in the trunk. haha. The other cupcake was a spice cake with maple cream cheese frosting. Sounds delicious, right??? Yeah, it was not so good. It was a little tough to bite into and hard to swallow. Mmm...that sounded kind of harsh. The cupcake was ok. haha.

The pictures are kind of lame, but here's a little peek into Joan's on Third...
